Toyota Recall
How would the Toyota recall affect demand and supply for Toyota cars? Would you agree that there would be a change in demand, a leftward shift, and a change in supply, also a leftward shift? In the introductory model, price should go up and quantity should go down.
Since Toyota operates in an oligopoly industry, I look for a build up of inventory as consumers prefer less. I am not sure about the price.

If inventory builds, won't price eventually have to drop if Toyota wants to clear the backlog?
ReplyDeleteI bought a new 2010 Toyota Camry about 4 weeks ago. The dealer took my FIRST low ball offer...Did they know something at the time?? (I am no conspiracy theorist) I subsequently I talked to another dealer and they told me that my offer was very low and under normal circumstances I could not have purchased that particular car at that price...In my garage with 50 miles on it! I wonder how the public will recieve/perceive this. I know I will ALWAYS think about my gas pedal when driving and it will diminish my "utility". How will enhance enhance my utility and not drive me away as a customer? :)
ReplyDeleteMy friend and I were recently discussing about how technology has become so integrated in our day to day lives. Reading this post makes me think back to that debate we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.
ReplyDeleteI don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Societal concerns aside... I just hope that as memory becomes less expensive, the possibility of uploading our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could encounter in my lifetime.
